  • 250 g corned beef brisket
  • 100 g carrot peeled and cut into chunks
  • 150 g potato peeled and cut into chunks
  • 100 g green cabbage quartered
  • 50 g onion peeled and halved
  • 1000 ml water
  • 5 piece black peppercorns whole
  • 1 piece bay leaf dried

  1. Place the corned beef brisket in a large pot.
  2. Add 1000 ml of water to the pot, enough to cover the meat.
  3. Add 5 whole black peppercorns and 1 dried bay leaf to the pot.
  4. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer the corned beef, covered, for 2 hours.
  6. After 2 hours, add the peeled and halved onion to the pot.
  7. Add the peeled and cut carrot chunks to the pot.
  8. Add the peeled and cut potato chunks to the pot.
  9. Simmer the vegetables with the meat for 30 minutes.
  10. Add the quartered green cabbage to the pot.
  11. Cook for an additional 15 minutes until cabbage is tender.
  12. Remove the corned beef from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  13. Slice the corned beef against the grain into thin slices.
  14. Serve the sliced corned beef with the boiled vegetables on the side.
