- 100 g dried mixed fruit (chopped)
- 50 g dark brown sugar
- 50 g unsalted butter
- 75 g all purpose flour
- 25 g ground almonds
- 1 piece large egg beaten
- 15 ml black treacle
- 15 ml brandy
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius (300 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Grease and line a small cake tin with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the unsalted butter and dark brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the beaten large egg to the butter and sugar mixture and mix well.
- Stir in the black treacle and brandy until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all purpose flour, ground almonds, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Add the chopped dried mixed fruit and stir thoroughly to distribute evenly.
- For the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2 to 2.5 hours or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the tin for 15 minutes.
- Turn the cake out onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
