- 150 g cooked ham diced
- 200 g potato peeled and diced
- 50 g carrot peeled and diced
- 30 g celery stalk diced
- 50 g onion diced
- 1 piece garlic clove minced
- 300 ml chicken broth low sodium
- 100 ml whole milk
- 10 g unsalted butter
- 10 g all purpose flour
- 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 0.25 teaspoon salt

Instructions
- Peel and dice the potatoes into small cubes about 1 cm each.
- Peel and dice the carrot into small pieces similar in size to the potatoes.
- Dice the celery stalk and onion finely.
- Mince the garlic clove.
- In a small pan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the butter and saute until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle the all purpose flour over the onion and garlic mixture and stir well to form a roux. Cook for 1 minute to remove raw flour taste.
- Transfer the roux mixture into the slow cooker.
- Add the diced potatoes, carrots, celery, and cooked ham into the slow cooker.
- For the chicken broth and whole milk into the slow cooker and stir to combine all ingredients.
- Add the dried thyme, ground black pepper, and salt to the slow cooker and stir gently.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 6 to 8 hours until vegetables are tender and soup is thickened.
- Before serving, stir the soup well and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.
Tips
- Use leftover cooked ham for best flavor and convenience.
- For a thicker soup, mash some of the potatoes before serving.
- Add chopped fresh parsley as garnish for color and freshness.
