- 120 g cooked elbow macaroni
- 100 ml whole milk
- 15 g unsalted butter
- 15 g all purpose flour
- 30 g onion diced
- 1 piece garlic clove minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 0.5 teaspoon paprika

- Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Grease a small casserole dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a medium saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic clove to the butter and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle all purpose flour over the onion mixture and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in whole milk, continuing to stir until the sauce thickens and is smooth.
- Remove sauce from heat and stir in half of the shredded sharp cheddar cheese until melted.
- Add cooked elbow macaroni and diced cooked ham to the sauce and mix well to combine.
- Season the mixture with salt, ground black pepper, and paprika; stir to distribute evenly.
- For the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining shredded sharp cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese on top is golden and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
