- 30 g grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 30 ml whole milk

- 1 pinch black pepper ground

- Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius (375 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Roll out the shortcrust pastry sheet and place it into a tart pan, pressing gently to fit the shape.
- Trim excess pastry from edges and prick the base with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- Steam the fresh broccoli florets until just tender, about 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together the beaten large egg, whole milk, and prepared mustard until smooth.
- Add grated sharp cheddar cheese, salt, and ground black pepper to the egg mixture and stir well.
- Spread the steamed broccoli evenly over the pastry base in the tart pan.
- For the mustard and cheese egg mixture over the broccoli, spreading evenly.
- Dot the top with small pieces of unsalted butter for richness.
