  • 100 g Gruyere cheese shredded
  • 100 g Emmental cheese shredded
  • 150 ml dry white wine
  • 1 piece garlic clove minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice fresh
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • 1 pinch black pepper ground
  • 1 pinch nutmeg ground
  • 150 g baguette bread cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the minced garlic clove to infuse flavor.
  2. For the dry white wine into the pot and warm it over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. In a bowl, toss the shredded Gruyere and Emmental cheeses with the cornstarch to coat evenly.
  4. Gradually add the cheese mixture to the hot wine, stirring constantly in a figure-eight motion until melted and smooth.
  5. Add the fresh lemon juice and kirsch to the cheese mixture and stir well.
  6. Season with ground black pepper and ground nutmeg, then continue stirring until the fondue is creamy and thick.
  7. Transfer the fondue pot to a low heat source to keep warm while serving.
  8. Serve with cubes of baguette bread for dipping into the cheese fondue.
