  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 30 g cream cheese softened
  • 15 g unsalted butter softened
  • 40 g powdered sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
  2. Grease and flour a small cake pan or line with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, white vinegar, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and half an egg beaten.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth and combined.
