  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour and baking powder until combined.
  2. In another bowl, beat the large egg with granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  3. Add the melted unsalted butter, whole milk, and vanilla extract to the egg mixture and stir well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.
