  • 0.5 teaspoon salt fine
  • 80 ml tomato sauce plain
  • 100 g mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 5 piece fresh basil leaves
  • 1 piece garlic clove minced
  • 1 pinch black pepper ground

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all purpose flour and fine salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and extra virgin olive oil to the flour mixture.
  4. Mix with a spoon until dough starts to form, then knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 250 degrees Celsius (482 Fahrenheit) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 25 cm (10 inch) circle.
  8. Spread plain tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  10. Add minced garlic clove and fresh basil leaves on top.
  11. Season with a pinch of ground black pepper.
  12. Transfer the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  13. Remove pizza from oven and let it cool for 2 minutes before slicing and serving.
