  • 50 g unsalted butter cold diced
  • 20 g granulated sugar
  • 30 ml cold water
  • 80 g apple peeled diced
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 5 ml lemon juice fresh
  • 0.5 piece egg beaten
  • 5 g powdered sugar for dusting

  1. In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour and granulated sugar.
  2. Add cold diced unsalted butter to the flour mixture.
  3. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cold water gradually and mix until dough forms a ball.
  5. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix diced peeled apple with ground cinnamon and fresh lemon juice.
  7. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
  8. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about 3 mm thickness.
  9. Cut dough into circles about 10 cm in diameter.
  10. Place a spoonful of apple filling on one half of each dough circle.
  11. Fold dough over to form a half moon shape and press edges to seal.
  12. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  13. Place pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  14. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  16. Dust pastries with powdered sugar before serving.
