  • 50 ml whole milk
  • 10 g all purpose flour
  • 30 g cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper ground
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 Fahrenheit).
  2. Slice the peeled potatoes into thin even slices.
  3. Dice the yellow onion and mince the garlic clove.
  4. Cut the pork chop into bite-sized pieces and season with salt, black pepper, and dried thyme.
  5. In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  6. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle all purpose flour over the onion and garlic mixture and stir well to form a roux, cook for 1 minute.
  8. Slowly add whole milk while stirring continuously to create a creamy sauce.
  9. Add shredded cheddar cheese to the sauce and stir until melted and smooth.

  11. Spread the cooked pork chop pieces over the potato layer.
  12. For half of the cheese sauce over the pork and potatoes.
  13. Add the remaining potato slices on top and cover with the rest of the cheese sauce.
  14. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  15. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  16. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
