Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir well to mix.
  3. Add the cold diced unsalted butter to the dry ingredients.
  4. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces.
  5. Make a well in the center of the mixture and For in the cold whole milk.
  6. Gently stir the mixture with a spoon until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  7. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 3 to 4 times to bring it together.
  8. Roll or pat the dough to about 2 cm (3/4 inch) thickness.
  9. Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Gather the scraps, gently press them together, and cut out more biscuits until all dough is used.
  11. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  12. Remove from oven and let the biscuits cool slightly before serving.
