1
- 30 g egg white large
- 50 g granulated sugar
- 50 g powdered almond flour
- 50 g powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pure
Origins French
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 150 degrees Celsius (300 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a clean bowl, whisk the egg white until it becomes frothy but not stiff.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar to the egg white while whisking continuously until you get a glossy meringue.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the powdered almond flour and powdered sugar to remove lumps.
- Gently fold the sifted dry ingredients into the meringue using a spatula, mixing until just combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and fold it in evenly.
- Transfer the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
- Pipe small rounds about 3 cm in diameter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Let the piped rounds rest at room temperature for 30 minutes to form a skin on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes until the macaroons are set and slightly golden on the bottom.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet before removing.
Tips
- Use room temperature egg whites for better meringue volume.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep macaroons light and airy.
- Letting the macaroons rest before baking helps form a smooth shell.
