Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey breast, minced garlic clove, dried oregano, salt, and ground black pepper.
- Mix the ingredients gently with your hands or a spoon until evenly combined, do not overmix to keep the burger tender.
- Form the mixture into a round patty about 1.5 cm thick, slightly larger than the burger bun.
- Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
- Place the turkey patty in the skillet and cook for 5 minutes without moving it to get a good sear.
- Flip the patty carefully and cook for another 5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 74C (165F).
- Place a slice of cheddar cheese on the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Toast the whole wheat burger bun lightly in the skillet or toaster.
- Spread mayonnaise evenly on the bottom half of the bun.
- Place the cooked turkey patty with melted cheese on the bun bottom.
- Add lettuce leaf, tomato slices, and red onion slices on top of the patty.
- Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Tips
- Do not overmix the turkey to keep the burger juicy and tender.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey is fully cooked for safety.
