- 85 g unsalted butter softened
- 1 piece large egg
- 60 ml whole milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 120 g powdered sugar
- 60 g unsalted butter softened for frosting
- 15 ml almond milk
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 15 g sliced almonds toasted

- Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease and flour a 6 inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together all purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy using a hand mixer.
- Add the large egg to the butter mixture and beat well until fully incorporated.
- Mix in the almond extract.
- Alternately add the dry flour mixture and whole milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix gently until just combined.
- For the batter evenly into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- To make the frosting, beat the softened unsalted butter for frosting until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, almond milk, and vanilla extract to the butter, beating until smooth and fluffy.
- Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.
- Sprinkle the toasted sliced almonds over the frosting to decorate.
